TWIX For Savings

It took 3 transactions to do this tonight but now that I think about it, I probably could have done it in just 2 transactions.

TWIX is important because I had too many coupons (what a problem) for items purchased.  One of the catches at Walgreen's is that if you have 5 items, you can only use 5 total coupons and rewards bucks.  What happened was I bought the 5 bottles of laundry detergent.  I had 1 coupon for each bottle (5).  In addition to that, I had $2 in rewards bucks from my last purchase that I wanted to use as well.  That makes 6 coupons and rewards bucks in all so I would have not been able to use one of them.  To use all of my vouchers, I had
to buy one more small thing.  Usually I pick the .33 caramels they sell but they have disappeared so I bought a .62 TWIX .  Making that extra purchase permitted me to redeem my $2 rewards bucks coupon.  So I got the TWIX for free and saved an additional $1.38.  Rewards bucks have quick expiration dates so you always wanna use those.

The current value of the items above is $31.62.  I paid $14 for it all BUT, if you look carefully, you will see three Walgreen's Rewards Bucks in front.  Those come to a total of $5 for me to spend on my next purchase.  I look at it as it only cost me $9.  I am most happy about buying the Dial soap (came with free mini lotion) and the small bottles of liquid detergent that I like to use on dedicates.  I didn't have any of those two items in my little stock pile so I thought this was a worth while purchase.  Without coupons, the soap and detergents would have cost $3 each.

Couponing is no easy task.  Building a stock of items costs a bit more than you expect at first and I've made plenty mistakes in the last month trying to figure out how all this works.  If anything, this experience has taught me to really think before I shop and always have a thorough plan, when possible.
